Apple's M3-equipped Macs Expected To Launch In October: Report

In a recent edition of his Power On newsletter, Bloomberg's Mark Gurman suggested that Apple's highly anticipated M3-equipped Macs could make their debut as early as October. 

Gurman mentioned that following Apple's annual iPhone event in September, there is likely to be another launch event focused on unveiling a new lineup of Macs.

According to Gurman, the initial beneficiaries of the M3 chip are expected to be the next iMac, 13-inch MacBook Air, and 13-inch MacBook Pro. However, he also noted that it is too early for the release of new high-end MacBook Pros or desktops, indicating that Apple might prioritise the mentioned models initially.

Earlier this year, Gurman reported that Apple was in the advanced stages of developing two new iMac models featuring the next-generation M3 silicon. Although the M3 chip is not anticipated to offer a substantial increase in CPU and GPU cores compared to the current M2 SoCs, it is expected to deliver noteworthy performance and power efficiency improvements owing to TSMC's cutting-edge 3nm manufacturing process. 

Gurman's previous prediction hinted at a potential release of the new iMac models in the latter half of 2023, featuring a colorful design reminiscent of the 2021 models.

Furthermore, Gurman mentioned in a recent update that Apple is also working on a 32-inch iMac; however, he cautioned that this particular model is not expected to be available until late 2024 at the earliest.

Contrary to Apple's previous practice of announcing new iPad models alongside Mac releases, Gurman suggested that this time around, there won't be any major upgrades until next year's release of the M3 iPad Pros, which are rumoured to feature OLED screens. However, he did mention that Apple is developing a refreshed version of the iPad Air with updated internals, as the current model still employs the aging M1 chipset.
