Always Been Inclined Towards Design: Gauri Khan

“I have always been inclined towards design” stated interior designer Gauri Khan, the CEO of Gauri Khan Designs (GKD) at the second edition of BW Businessworld Future of Design Awards.  

Design has always been a passion for Gauri Khan and her first project was her own home. An interesting fact she mentioned about her initial foray into designing, was designing a particular outfit for husband and renowned actor, Shahrukh Khan for his film Baazigar. 

Starting out with a small team, Gauri Khan Designs (GKD) has grown to a large team that includes architects, and designers. She stated that she is passionate about design and her work. “If you are passionate about what you are doing, do not shy away from work, are focused and give it adequate time by putting your mind, heart and soul in to what you do, you will definitely succeed at some point of time in life.” 

She further stated that style and design is very personal, and it being timeless, comfortable and effortless is important. Every project depends on who it is being designed for and of course, on the type of property/ space.  "All projects are dear to me", said Gauri adding that they have her focus, determination, heart, soul, and love. The smile on the customers' face is reward enough to keep going. 

Talking about inspiration, Gauri stated inspiration is everywhere. It is how you use it and where you find it. She stressed that not everything is always straightforward, and there will always be challenges, one needs to keep doing what one loves to succeed.
