With the current population of 1.3 billion people in this country, more than 48 per cent are women. As a civilization, R Ramanan, Mission Director of the Atal Innovation Mission (AIM) and Additional Secretary, NITI Aayog, the Government of India always looks for ways that celebrates women and mothers.

India has 65 per cent of the population is under 35 and there are only 7 in 1000 women business owners. Ramanan highlights the reasons for such a low number in the country. Reasons are Personal and Cultural issues followed by funding capabilities for startups and access to entrepreneurship across the country.

As the students participated in AIM, it was revealed that the girl students have an upper hand in multitasking. They pay attention to the details and have the ability to communicate and seek help. “These factors encouraged the government to let the women flourish, “said R Ramanan during BW Businessworld Women Entrepreneurship Summit and Awards 2020.

The Atal Innovation Mission is a flagship initiative set up by the NITI Aayog to promote innovation and entrepreneurship across the length and breadth of the country, based on a detailed study and deliberations on innovation and entrepreneurial needs of India in the years ahead. This government empowered initiative is providing equal action and opportunity to the girl child. As it becomes a women entrepreneurship platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
